A Great Visit from Grandparents

Ty's parents came to visit this weekend and we sure kept Leina busy with hair cuts!  Saturday afternoon she cut Ty's hair while Carter watched.  We hoped watching daddy get a hair cut would prep Carter to get one of his own.  Then Saturday evening she cut Carter's hair and Sunday afternoon she cut mine!  My dad trimmed Carter's hair around his ears the weekend before his first birthday and then Leina gave Carter his very first hair cut in March.  Carter wasn't the worst hair cut patron ever during that cut, but he wasn't exactly good either.  He cried and carried on and wasn't interested in getting his hair cut in the least.  Carter's 2nd hair cut experience couldn't have been further from his 1st.  Leina again had a difficult time cutting Carter's hair, but this time because he was laughing so hard and squirming around so much.  Anytime the clippers got close to his neck he belly laughed and pushed his head back toward his neck.  I'm honestly not sure how she even cut his hair, let alone made it look good and the same length!  Just looking at the pictures below Carter's face says it all.  Then you pan back to Rocky and Leina's faces and get even more of a feel for the atmosphere.  In the first hair cut picture both of their faces are serious and they are both very set on doing anything to speed things up and get Carter to stop crying.  In the 2nd hair cut picture everyone is smiling and laughing and having a good time.  I just had to put pictures together as a comparison.  Carter's hair cut was definitely the highlight of the weekend for me and I dare say everyone else who experienced it!
How's it look?
Sunday morning we headed out to the zoo.  Carter enjoyed being passed back and forth between Ty, Rocky, Leina, and me.  I had to take Carter's picture by the penguin stone just like I do every time we go and Leina had Rocky stand by the Rockhopper penguin for a picture.  Carter's favorite animals on this trip were the tortoises, the penguins, and the meerkats.  He was so funny because when he was ready to leave an animal and head to the next he would wave bye to the animal we were watching.  We packed Carter's lunch and ate at a picnic bench in the park area.  He scarfed quite a bit of watermelon and then took off playing while carrying and eating his peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  We had such a great visit with Ty's parents and are so excited for the whole family to be together in less than a month when we head to Florida to visit Paul and Amanda with Rocky and Leina!  Carter even has a new travel case, swim suit, and beach shirt from his grandparents!  We are so ready!!!
Watching the tortoise.  One of them is 125 years old!
Now he's taller than a Gentoo Penguin!
Grandpa Rocky with the Rockhopper and Carter with the African Penguin.
Checkin out the penguins.  We really need to get Carter another hat that matches more!

Offering something to the meerkats.

  2. The hair cut comparisons were wonderful! The picture where he's standing by the penguin looks like he has his hand on his hip like a model. :) Dad put the video of Carter's haircut on his laptop so he could watch it at work whenever he needed a pick me up.
