Papa and Gigi Come to Visit

This weekend Ty's grandparents, Carter's Gigi and Papa, came to visit.  Ty's grandpa (who made Carter's crib, see here) made a bed for Ty and my room.  So they came to bring it down and of course to see Carter!  Friday evening they enjoyed playing and snuggling with Carter before he went to bed and then Jeremy came over to help unload the bed and carry it into our bedroom.  I knew we were going to add a lot of storage space with the drawers Ty's grandpa made for the bed, but I was so excited once the bed was all together!  I couldn't wait to start stuffing the drawers full of stuff.  We are quickly running out of storage around here!

The foot of the bed.  Our quilt was a wedding present from Ty's Grandma, Carter's Gigi.
One of the sliders in the drawer got broken during the move into our bedroom, that's why the drawer is hanging out.

Papa and Gigi treated us to IHOP for breakfast both mornings.  I ordered Carter a fruit cup on Saturday and all he wanted was the hash browns, sausage, and waffles off our plates.  On Sunday we ordered him hash browns and sausage since he'd liked them so much the day before.  Then all he wanted was the fruit off his Gigi's plate.  Little man is such a little scavenger, he never wants his own food!

We had great weather all weekend so we spent a decent amount of time playing outside.  It got up to 80 degrees on Saturday so I got out Carter's water table we got at a garage sale for $10.  He enjoyed playing with it, but also loved climbing up in chairs.  One set of chairs is short enough he can easily climb up on his own.  The other set is too tall for him to do it on his own.  Papa would put a hand out for Carter to put his foot in and push off of.  It was enough help he was able to make it into the chair.

Carter enjoyed practicing his shapes with Papa and Gigi.  He played with his shape sorter a lot.  Gigi would sit with him, tell him the names of the shapes, and help him locate the hole to push his shape through.  Before he was pretty good with circle, but this weekend he did really well with all of the shapes.  Although he did find the triangle and star to be difficult enough most times he just flipped the toy back over without even attempting them!  We clapped for him when he got a shape in the right hole so many times he started clapping for himself right after he put the shape in.

Carter definitely enjoyed his time with Papa and Gigi and was sad to see them go.  He was pampered all weekend with treats (animal crackers), snuggles (Gigi even rocked him to sleep for one of his naps), and loads of attention.  We look forward to seeing them again in a couple of weeks when we make a trip back to Ty's hometown to visit family.

  1. The bed looks beautiful! Your pictures are all really good. I like the one of Carter with his Papa both smiling and the video of his shapes toy was precious.
