He arrived back home late Tuesday evening to the great joy of his two sweet cats, Mr. Jones and Agent Smith. By Thursday he was already headed to his first day of outpatient therapy. He received physical, speech/language, and occupational therapy. The physical therapist said they were going to work hard to find something that would make Jeremy sore and they did as he was worn out for the rest of the day. During occupational therapy they had him work on paying bills online and the therapist suggested Jeremy may not need continued occupational therapy! They also suggested Jeremy take driving classes to help him remember how to drive. We are quite thrilled that he will be able to drive again and hopefully have a life similar to before the accident. My dad was very impressed with his SLP who was doing things very similar to what they had been doing at TIRR.
We continue to be blown away by Jeremy's progress, especially considering his initial prognosis. That first night at the hospital we were told if he survived there was 0% chance he would be the person he had been before the accident. The entire time he was in a coma we feared he would come out of it with no quality of life and we would feel guilt over keeping him alive. I can't help but look at him and feel a childlike joy that he is here and that he is so very much the brother I grew up knowing and loving. Again, thank you all for your support! Jeremy's story is a remarkable one. So many people have said he is a miracle and I'm so glad he is!
Yeah for Jeremy!! Yeah he is home! Yeah he is continuing to be physically stronger! And Yeah Jeremy is Jeremy!! Definitely a poster for miraculous recoveries!
