Dear Elise,
We've really enjoyed your first year. I loved knowing your mom and dad would get the joy of having a boy and a girl at home. It makes such a difference. And you are so happy and sweet about things, it's a pleasure to see you. You're such a fan of Carter and love to play with him. It makes it so much fun to just sit and watch you. You have a sweet baby laugh, and use it all the time with Carter and even Aunt Judy said she loves to see pictures of you looking at Carter because she can see the love in your eyes.
You're really cruising now with walking and using your Radio Flyer wagon to walk when you push it. You were just pushing Carter in it and worked and worked to be able to do it and kept right on doing it even though it must have been exhausting.
It's fun to see your reaction when you know it's time to eat. You get so excited and your whole body jumps with happiness. You've also gotten so you try to take off the straps to your high chair after you're done and someone takes off the tray.
You love to put things in your mouth, and even in the tub you were having Opa shoot water into your mouth. You love animals and are so sweet and gentle with them, which is unusual for children your age. You love books and will sit and look through a book which is adorable for your age.
It will be so much fun to see you at your birthday party, and to see what you're up to in the next year.

Dear Elise,
Happy birthday to the sweetest baby girl ever!
You
are always smiling and when you look at people, especially Carter, you
can see the love in your eyes. Gma can’t look at your two toothed,
smiling, little face without bursting with even more love for you.
It
has been so much fun watching you develop and to see those blue eyes
absorb everything. In all the pictures and videos you are right there,
your precious little head down, tiny little hands reaching, and the
wheels turning, taking it all in. The way you study books and turn pages at such a young age is amazing. Watching
you crawl over things (toys, dogs, brother) and climb in things
(laundry basket, book shelves, bins) just so you can pull everything out
and promptly put it in your mouth is a hoot!
Stay sweet my little granddaughter and know that you are loved.

Happy 1st Birthday!!!
The last year has really gone by quickly. It is hard to believe that you are turning one year of age, but then when I watch you I see that you are growing up and doing many new behaviors that you could not do before.
Lately, you really love to push the block wagon around. This way you can practice walking without falling down. This past weekend, Cater wanted you to push him in the block wagon. I was thinking that since he is so much bigger than you, you would not be able to push him at all. Not only did you push him, you pushed him down the hallway and back a couple of times. Carter thought that it was great and laughed the entire time. You looked so determined that I should have known that you would be successful, it just did not seem possible physically for you. I think that you are going to accomplish a lot in your life that others may not think is possible just as I did not think that you would be able to push Carter in the block wagon. You will show them, just like you showed us, that you can do it! Mind over matter!
One of the things that is very serious business for you is eating. You smile and laugh a lot and only fuss when you are either tired or hungry. It is pretty easy to know the difference. If you see food and you are hungry, you will stop crying and grab for the food. When you are full, you usually like to play with the food and throw it down watching to see what happens to it when it hits the floor. A little scientist in the making?
One of the special times that I get to have with you is giving you a bath. I am glad that your mom and dad let me do that as it is a lot of fun. Sometimes Carter takes a bath with you too and you LOVE when he does. You watch him and laugh at what he does. You and Carter love each other very much and it is easy to tell.
This year your Uncle Jeremy had an accident when he was running. You did not get to see him much for the first couple of months of 2016. Right before your birthday he was back home and whenever you were around him you would look at him and smile and want his attention. It was so nice to see how much you wanted his attention and how much you loved him. And, of course, you got it because Uncle Jeremy loves you too. Actually, everyone in all of your families love you!
We are looking forward to seeing what new things you will learn and do during the next year.

Dear Elise, your first year already!
I have just loved watching you grow, I absolutely
love watching you work through things that you are doing, you seem to
get so involved with your task at hand. Most of the time you are busy
with working something out, only momentarily stopping to check out your
surroundings and then back at it.
I love to watch you and your big brother interact
it is so apparent that the two of you love one another. You like to
watch him doing, and he is always checking in on you, that’s sweetness
at its best! You have been such a good baby for your mom and dad, now
that you are about walk, they better be ready cause you are surely going
to explore your world.
