Easter this year was obviously different. We are still under a stay-at-home order from our mayor although our governor has yet to take much action. It expires on April 30th but we'll see what actually happens as we near that date. Elise was super excited about Easter this year and kept talking about the Easter Bunny and asking about an egg hunt. Normally for us the Easter Bunny arrives while we are at church so there isn't that wake up crazy early in hopes of seeing what the Easter Bunny brought. Plus it gives us time to play with toys and enjoy things rather than rushing to get ready for church. I told the kids the Easter Bunny was likely going to have to come during the night this year since no one would be going to church and she needs to be sneaky and doesn't want to be seen. Starting at 4pm the day before Easter, Elise started asking if it was time to go to bed because she was so excited to get up and hunt eggs. I should have known that was a bad sign for our sleep, but I didn't really think about it. Elise set out a basket on either side of our bed, one for me and one for Ty. She said it was so we could hunt eggs too which was sweet. She set a basket each for Carter and herself in her room by her slide. She wanted to write a letter to the Easter Bunny and asked Ty to help her. It was so cute! We set it out for the Bunny and the kids were off to bed. They wanted to sleep together in Elise's bed so they were up later than normal.

We decided since Santa is a boy, the Easter Bunny could be a girl.
Elise woke up at 6:15 and came into our room. Ty told her it was too early and she needed to go back to bed. She did and was back in our room a little before 7:00. She said Carter was awake too so I figured we were better off just getting up. They had a blast hunting eggs and were so sweet making sure they didn't get too many. When Elise found 2 eggs at the same time, she'd hand one of them to Carter. When Carter found a few in a row, he'd then point a couple out to Elise. It had rained all night and was super wet, so the egg hunt was inside. When they were done finding eggs Elise said, "Usually the Easter Bunny brings us a basket with fun things inside." Then she looked at me and took off running to find their baskets. They had so much fun going through their baskets to look at their toys. Then they opened their eggs from the hunt and had fun seeing what they had inside. The favorites were jolly ranchers, money, whoppie cushions, and some squeezy toys. Ty made bunny pancakes for breakfast and laughed over the fact that it was only 8am! After breakfast Elise painted her nails with new nail polish and they both played with toys.

I streamed church at 9:15 but couldn't get it to cast onto the tv. The kids came and went, mostly playing Play Doh and bringing Play Doh ice cream to me and Ty. We took family pictures by the fireplace and Tesla cracked us up by coming over and sitting down for the picture. We even tried to take one without her, but she wanted to be right there with us. She looked right at the camera and everything, goofy girl! I headed out for a run with Tesla after we took our pictures. Just for fun I was going to run with my bunny ear headband on, but I couldn't find my ear warmer headband to wear over it to keep it from falling off so Tesla and I just posed for a picture with our bunny masks on before we took off on our run.

I was impressed Telsa left the mask on without messing with it!

When I got back from my run, Elise and I started making our bunny rolls since the dough would have to raise for an hour. While we waited on the dough to rise we decided to drive by Uncie J and Uncie Taco's houses to drop baskets on their porch and yell Happy Easter from the car when they came out to get their baskets. The kids had a lot of fun surprising them and it was so cute! Unfortunately it was raining when we made our deliveries and started raining really heavily when we got to Jeremy's house so the kids didn't want to get out. When we got home Elise and I finished making the bunny rolls and Ty put them in the oven alongside the potatoes he was making. He also grilled some chicken since we hadn't been able to get a ham for Easter. We got to FaceTime with both sets of grandparents which was nice, but we missed having them here for the festivities. We polished off a wonderful day by watching Trolls World Tour, thanks to my parents renting it. The kids loved the movie and it was quite cute.

Elise and I contributed the bunny rolls and I made some cinnamon sugar butter. Ty made sweet potatoes, cheesy potatoes, deviled eggs, and grilled chicken.
Sounds like a good day and a good meal! The kids outfits look good together. It looks like they had a good day, even with a stay-at-home order.
ReplyDeleteThey did, they really enjoyed themselves!
