Weekend Woes and Whoas!

Friday afternoon Carter and I met Ty at work to eat lunch with him.  On our way home I lost vision in one of my eyes and ended up getting a migraine.  Luckily we got home at naptime so Carter and I napped in Ty and my bed together.
He looks so big snuggled up in our bed!

I have a history of migraines which were infinitely worse during the first trimester of my pregnancy and have been mild since Carter was born.  I woke up with my vision returned, but my head pounding.  Skippy had a vet appointment so I went ahead and took him.  After Skippy got all checked out I was waiting to pay and I lost my vision again.

I ended up with a mother of all migraines.  It was definitely the worst one I'd had since early on in the first trimester with Carter.  All I could do was sit on the floor in Carter's room while he played on the floor and rock back and forth attempting not to throw up due to nausea.  Luckily we only had about an hour after we got home until my knight in shining armor arrived.  When Ty walked through the door I was able to pass Carter off, throw up, and lay down in bed.  I slept until 9pm.  Woke up, ate a little dinner, and went back to bed.  Kind of a long story to explain why you haven't heard from me in a couple days.

Yesterday afternoon I started feeling better and today I'm mostly back to normal.  My head still hurts, but it's bearable.  Unfortunately I didn't get my long run in due to my head not cooperating, but I was able to salvage the weekend.

Carter put the sensory bag directly into his mouth.
Carter loves playing with all types of random things: paper, necklaces, cords (scary!), Ziploc bags, if it's not intended to be a toy, he's playing with it.  So I wanted to make him a sensory tub or bag.  I searched online and found this really cool idea for a sensory bag.  I just used a freezer Ziploc bag, hair gel, confetti, and a few small insect toys from the party favor section.  Of course the first thing Carter did with it was put it in his mouth!  He did end up rubbing it and playing with it too.  I think he'll definitely love it when he's a little bit older.  I'm already picturing different sensory bags for each holiday.  Halloween with the hair gel dyed orange and spider rings inside.  Eewww!  So exciting!

Actually rubbing and feeling the sensory bag.
Carter and I went to Target and Kohl's to do some back to school clothing shopping for me with birthday money.  It was nice to have a special new shirt to wear the first day back from maternity leave, so I thought I'd do the same for my return to work this time.  It gives me a little pep in my step when my heart is heavy from missing little man.

I put Carter in the shopping cart for the first time and he was hilarious.  At first he sat in the cart like a normal child.  Then he decided his leg needed to be free.  Next thing I knew he was all sprawled out with one leg hiked up resting on the edge of the cart.  Our little guy is such a character!  Only a couple more days until he's 8 months old.  I really need to get on top of his first birthday planning!  I can't believe it's only 4 months away.  How is that possible?!!?
Seriously, he's more excited to shop than I am!  Love my happy boy!
I don't think she notices I'm pulling my leg out...
My leg is free at last!
Oh, you know, just hangin out!

  1. I've been checking to see if you felt better. I'm glad you do. Carter looks like he had a great time shopping.

  2. Bless your heart! Migraines suck. Do you know what causes them? Mine used to be stress-induced. Could it be stress from school starting again? I hope they stay away! Liam is into everything he shouldn't be, too! What is it with babies and cords/powerstrips/plastic bags/etc? :) I'm going to have to try one of those sensory bags!

    1. I'm not exactly sure. They used to be related to hormones and have gotten better since we figured that out. I went from weekly to monthly migraines. Sometimes they seem to be weather related and others stress related. I do tend to get one right around the beginning of the school year every year. If Carter and Liam ever met they would totally be best friends!
